5 Reasons Your Garden Needs a Garden Screen

Having a garden is a gift that you can enjoy all year long.

In summers, you can spend almost all your days outside - cooking, hanging out with friends, taking care of your flowers, vegetables or simply reading your favourite books.

During the colder seasons, it's a great place to bundle up and gather around a fire pit, sip some hot cocoa and just enjoy fresh, crispy air. Almost perfect!

A way to make it even better? Add a beautiful decorative garden screen! Whether you have a tiny garden or an ample outdoor space, it's an invaluable asset to it.

Here are five reasons to get a decorative privacy screen for your garden!

It doesn't matter if you're having a party, Sunday barbecue, or just enjoying your morning coffee, these moments require privacy, and you surely don't want to be watched by nosy neighbours or people passing by your house.

Here's where a garden screen is a true saviour - you can effortlessly install it anywhere in your garden and create a more private space for you and your loved ones to enjoy. Garden screens are also more beautiful than a plain old fence and are much more practical because you can easily place them wherever you prefer and move elsewhere if needed later.

Even if you spend a lot of time taking care of your garden, there are always parts of it that aren't finished or have something you don't really like.

An old shed you want to get rid of? Old bushes you've been meaning to cut down but never get the chance to? Or maybe it's a house wall that needs a coat of paint?

Whatever it is, a garden screen can cover it up nicely in no time and give you much needed time to get to those home improvements!

A garden screen is a cost and time-effective way to transform any area and make you less stressed about the imperfect parts.

Love reading in the garden, but kids keep kicking the ball and distracting you? Want to have a nice cozy nook just for yourself? Then a garden screen is a perfect way of creating it without spending a ton of time or effort.

Depending on your garden layout, you can use one or two screens, make an angle, place some nice chairs or other seating, and enjoy your personal piece of paradise.

The beauty of a decorative garden screen is that you can still see what's going on in other parts of the garden, so you can keep an eye on your kids or pets.

Some garden area ideas:

  • Reading/meditation nook
  • Cooking and BBQ area
  • Cooling off/outdoor shower area
  • Hammock area
  • Romantic dinner for two area

Climbing and trailing plants look stunning in a garden, but they all need a place to, well, climb.

A garden screen is a perfect solution instead of a trellis because these are often made of wood and get damaged by water, sun and other elements.

A screen is also great if you don't want to grow plants on your balcony. You can place the decorative screen wherever you desire, be it on the edges of your garden or the middle of it.

Decorative screens are also beautiful on their own, so you can enjoy them as an art piece even until your plants start growing and climbing!

Some of the most popular climber plants in Australia you can use in your garden and with your decorative garden screen are:

  • Banksia rose
  • Boston ivy
  • Baby bougainvillea
  • Orange trumpet creeper
  • Passionfruit
  • Rocktrumpet
  • Star jasmine
  • Wisteria
  • Bower vine
  • Chocolate vine
  • Creeping fig
  • Crimson glory vine
  • Grapevine

We have plenty of garden screens in multiple stunning designs here at Metal Trend. They are gorgeous on their own and can become a centrepiece of your garden (and a talking piece at parties!).

Our screens are suitable for your garden but will also look great on your terrace, patio and even indoors if you decide so!

Made from corten steel, they will develop a beautiful and unique rust patina, but you can also choose powder-coated aluminium if you prefer. Either way, it's not difficult to take care of it.

The artistic designs include Morrocan style, flowers, graphics, trees, palm leaves and many others, so you can choose to fit your own garden and its style.

How to maintain your garden screen?

The beauty of our garden screens is that they don't require much maintenance because the rust patina eliminates the need for painting and additional care.

That's one of the significant advantages over wood that requires painting, sealing and sanding

You can leave corten steel products outside without worrying about corrosion or rusting because that's the goal.

Corten steel rust patina creates a unique look and protects your screen from corrosion.

If you choose a powder-coated aluminium garden screen, it's also not difficult to clean and maintain:

  • Wipe the surface with a wet mop, brush or sponge and remove all dirt. Don't use a wire brush, so you don't damage the finish.
  • Use a soft brush and a simple detergent, free from solvents and petroleum-based chemicals that could remove the coating itself.
  • Rinse off the detergent with water and let it dry naturally.
